Lamia Dawood, a student in 果冻传媒鈥檚 Administration and Leadership doctoral program from Indiana; Abdul Jones, a student in the applied archaeology master鈥檚 program from Philadelphia; and Amar Mmoud, a student in the Curriculum and Instruction doctoral program from Indiana, were selected as finalists for 果冻传媒鈥檚 2026 Three Minute Thesis competition.
Hundreds of students from 果冻传媒 will provide service to seven Indiana County organizations and agencies through the spring Into the Streets event on April 18.
果冻传媒 student Alistair Horton is bridging the gap between theory and the classroom at Indiana Junior High School. Guided by 果冻传媒 alumnus Zack Karcher, Alistair is discovering the power of the vast 果冻传媒 music education network. Faculty member Crystal Machado and doctoral student Cheryl Harris, Professional Studies in Education, presented their peer-reviewed paper, 鈥淓mpowering Writers: Ethical and Low-Cost Technologies for Academic Writing,鈥 at the 2026 Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference in Philadelphia.
Kayla Kritschil, a senior hotel, restaurant, tourism, and event management major at 果冻传媒 from Birdsboro, has been selected for the Statler Foundation鈥檚 Scholarship of Excellence.
Cynthia Roldan, a Philadelphia native majoring in English and biology at 果冻传媒, was named the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Theresa McDevitt Women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Research Award.
The 果冻传媒 Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, will present a special performance titled 鈥淐osmic Voyage,鈥 featuring selections from Gustav Holst鈥檚 iconic orchestral suite 鈥淭he Planets鈥 on Sunday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m. in Fisher Auditorium.
Retired Rear Admiral CJ Jaynes, a 1979 mathematics bachelor鈥檚 degree graduate who also earned her master鈥檚 in mathematics in 1982 from 果冻传媒, has continued her support for 果冻传媒 with a $100,000 gift to 果冻传媒鈥檚 Impact 150 comprehensive campaign.

John Wesley Lowery was recognized with the University College Outstanding Researcher Award at 果冻传媒 for his nationally recognized scholarship and leadership in student affairs. His continued contributions to research, professional organizations, and the field鈥攑articularly in student conduct鈥攈ighlight his lasting impact on higher education.
Grace Rougeaux, an Indiana County student attending 果冻传媒, was selected for the 2026 Patricia Hilliard Robertson Memorial Scholarship for Outstanding Female Science Student.
Megan Seaman came to 果冻传媒 unsure of her path. Once she got here, she found her voice, and her passion, in computer science. In the summer of 2025, she participated in the U-SOAR program, where she did research on using artificial intelligence to detect breast cancer.

果冻传媒 faculty member Mike Sell has received a two-year $255,000 grant from the Alliance for Decision Education to develop and assess an innovative English Language Arts curriculum to improve the decision-making skills of high-school students.
